NEW DELHI: Residents of Bhai Ram Camp, Masjid Camp and DID Camp located along Race Course Road have been directed to vacate the area by March 6 or face legal action, according to a notice issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

As per the notice, the Centre has already allotted permanent houses to the residents of the three slum clusters under the rehabilitation policy at Savda Ghevra in northwest Delhi.

The notice issued on Thursday stated that the slum clusters are situated on government land and a joint survey was conducted in January 2024 in coordination with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to determine the eligibility of residents for rehabilitation in accordance with the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) policy.

It said that the eligibility process has been completed and approved following which alternative accommodation has been allotted in the Savda Ghevra DUSIB colony.

“A survey was conducted to identify eligible occupants for allotment. After the process was completed, 717 flats have been allotted to the residents. They have been asked to take possession of the flats and vacate the clusters by March 6. A lot of occupants are happy as the Government has given them alternate pucca accommodation in Delhi,” said officials.

Officials familiar with the matter said the action is part of a broader effort to reclaim and secure government land in high-security and central zones of the capital.

Race Course Road, which houses key government and official residences, is considered a sensitive area, and authorities have periodically moved to remove encroachments in its vicinity.

Residents are expected to approach local authorities and elected representatives seeking clarification, relief or rehabilitation, even as the prospect of eviction raises concerns over displacement and livelihood disruption.

Earlier, eviction notices to them were issued on October 29, 2025, informing residents about their allotments and advising them to vacate the existing premises to facilitate relocation.

The matter had also been challenged before the Delhi High Court, which, in its order dated November 13, 2025, directed compliance with due process.
